Responsible Design
Our denim styles are sewn with double single needle construction for durability.

Denim is traditionally made of cotton, but more recently is often blended with synthetic fibers like polyester, making biodegradability of the fabric difficult. Historically, the blue color of denim was achieved through natural indigo dyes, but has now been replaced by synthetic dyes, including PVA, which yields microplastics into water sources. The denim manufacturing process consumes significant quantities of water and chemicals across the growing, dyeing, and finishing processes and has led to the perception of denim as an environmentally harmful product.

As a circular alternative to conventional cotton, we use GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified organic cotton denim which meets specific environmental, wastewater, and labor requirements. Genetically modified seeds and synthetic agricultural chemicals are not used in the production of organic cotton and its production uses 88% less water and 62% less energy than non-organic cotton.

Studies show that organic cotton farming builds organic matter in the soil, reduces soil, air, and water contamination, increases soil fertility and biodiversity, reduces human and wildlife health hazards, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
